Is my online account application secure?

Yes. Berkshire Bank uses secure socket layer (SSL) encryption, an industry standard for online security. Encryption is a method of scrambling data using a mathematical formula so that it is unintelligible to anyone that may intercept it as it travels over the Internet. The encrypted data can only be unscrambled by the encryption software on Berkshire Bank's computer and the web browser on your computer.

How long will the application process take to complete?

Our online application process provides an easy and secure way to open your new money market/savings account will require only 5-10 minutes.

What personal information do I need to get started?

To get started, you must be a citizen of the United States. You will also need the following information for each account owner:

  • Social Security Number
  • Driver’s License or State ID
  • Home Address

Part of verifying your identify for online account opening includes answering questions from public record.  You will be asked a series of questions to help confirm your identity. 

How will I make an account opening deposit online?

You may transfer money from an account at another bank, you will also need the account information found on your checks or deposit slips.  If you are a new customer to Berkshire Bank, your funds may take up to seven business days to become available after the application is successfully processed.  Once your funds are available they will be included in the available balance column online. Please note that you will receive the rate offered on the product you chose as of the day your application is complete.

How will I know when the account opening process is completed?

You will be sent a series of test transactions that you will be required to verify before the account opening process can be finalized.  It may take up to 24 hours to see the test transactions reflected in your account.  Please check your email for confirmation that the test transactions have been sent.

Can I use the “back button” during the account application process?

No. You will not be able to use your “back” button during the application process.

When is the opening deposit processed?

The customer will receive a series of small dollar test transactions via ACH that they will need to confirm on – once this validation is complete, we will initiate their funding ACH in the amount that they specified on their application. This process is explained during your application.

When will I have access to my new account?

As soon as the account is successfully funded you will see the account in online banking.
