Berkshire Bank Supports Pittsfield Park Renovation

PITTSFIELD, MA – The complete renovation of the outside basketball court at the Lakewood Park on Newell Street in Pittsfield will be funded in part by the Berkshire Bank Foundation, the Bank announced today. The Berkshire Bank Foundation provided a grant to the City of Pittsfield to help fund the renovation, which was completed by DelSignore Companies in Troy, New York.

The project is a result of ongoing conversations between Berkshire Bank and City officials to explore synergies between city needs and areas of focus for the Berkshire Bank Foundation.

"In the City of Pittsfield, we recognize the power of collaboration and its transformative power in our community. We are thankful to Berkshire Bank for funding this renovation project at Lakewood Park. I am thrilled to know our youth and others will have a revitalized basketball court to enjoy in the days and years ahead," said Mayor Linda Tyer.

"As we worked to plan and execute the projects for our Xtraordinary Day of Service in June, we discussed various needs with City representatives," said Lori Gazzillo Kiely, senior vice president, Foundation Director. "Neighborhood revitalization is an important priority area for Berkshire Bank and its Foundation, especially in our hometown operation hub. The Newell Street Basketball Court was raised as in need of repair and heavily used. While the timing of the renovation did not align with Berkshire's Xtraordinary Day, we are so pleased we could play a key role in seeing the project to completion."

In addition to restoring the court, Berkshire Bank's X-Team also constructed player benches to be used during organized games.
