Berkshire Bank Foundation Awards Nearly $85,000 To Twenty Pioneer Valley Nonprofits

PITTSFIELD, MA, May 12, 2016 – Berkshire Bank Foundation announced that it has awarded $84,318 in grants and pledges to twenty non-profit organizations in the Pioneer Valley during their first quarter grants cycle. 

The funding from Berkshire Bank Foundation supported a variety of organizations, some of which include:

  • DevelopSpringfield based in Springfield, MA received a grant to support the construction of the Springfield Innovation Center in downtown Springfield.
  • Volunteers in Public Schools of Westfield based in Westfield, MA received a grant to support the Westfield Credit for Life Fair.
  • Ludlow Community Center & Randall Boys & Girls Club based in Ludlow, MA received a grant to support their project learn academic success program.
  • Revitalize Community Development Corp based in Springfield, MA received a grant to support their Green-N-Fit Neighborhood Block Rebuild.
  • HAP, Inc. based in Springfield, MA received a grant to support their First Time Homebuyer Counseling and Education program.
  • United Way of the Pioneer Valley based in Springfield, MA received a grant to support the creation of a financial success center.

In addition to financial support, the XTEAM®, the bank’s nationally acclaimed Employee Volunteer Program, provides employees with paid time off to volunteer during regular business hours. In 2015, over 70% of Berkshire Bank’s employees provided more than 40,000 hours of service to benefit community organizations across the bank’s service area. The volunteer program is another way for the bank to give back to the communities where it does business.
